1. Product Description:
RPMI 1640 Medium was formulated by Moore et Al. to support the in vitro, long term survival of blood corpuscles, which requires a suspension culture.
The media is named after the Rosewell Park Memorial Institute at which it was developed.
The specifications of The RPMI 1630 series have become the base composition of the RPMI 1640 series.
RPMI 1640 varies with its predecessor in that it incorporates the bicarbonate buffering system and contains modified amino acid and vitamin concentrations.
RPMI 1640 medium is a partial modification of McCoy's 5A medium, and is used in supporting a wide variety of neoplastic cell lines, including fresh human lymphocytes.
